The Veggie Gang helping encourage children of all ages to eat and be more aware of vegetables in a fun and interesting way. The Veggie Gang have been developed to help encourage children of all ages to eat and be more aware of vegetables in a fun and interesting way. The Veggie Gang from Crooked Gate Farm have been developed to help encourage children of all ages to eat more fruit and vegetables - leading to a healthier diet. The Veggie Gang are a range of plush soft toys in vegetable like characters with a whole host of NEW Veggie Gang Members being added in the future. The first four characters are:- Billy Broccoli - Colin Carrot - Casper Cabbage - Sally Swede. School Resource pack:- The Veggie Gang is a unique children's character concept created by Harrison Hunter Trading LTD based in Lancashire. Our associated company Huntapac Produce LTD is a major vegetable producer supplying leading supermarket chains in the UK. Our aim is to encourage primary key stage 1 children to eat and be more aware of vegetables in a fun and interesting way. The first five members of The Veggie Gang are Colin Carrot, Billy Broccoli, Sally Swede, Casper Cabbage and Maggie Mushroom. We have had a great reaction to The Veggie Gang whenever they have been shown and now as part of our ongoing development, in consultation with the DFES, are producing a Veggie Gang School Resource Pack. We are working with Ali Farrell referred to us by the DFES to write up our teachers manual. This is a comprehensive manual and covers the areas stated below: - Teacher's notes - providing curriculum guidance, teaching tips, advice on using the pack, resource and management issues. Unit of work - addressing specific National Curriculum objectives and mapped to the KS1 program's of study. The format used for this will be consistent with the National Scheme of Work for primary schools. Information Sheets - providing factual information for teachers to use when teaching about - the role and value of vegetables in the diet / how vegetables are grown and produced / tips on preparing and cooking vegetables. Activity Sheets - detailing the learning activities for use with children they will include-growing / preparing / cooking / tasting and evaluating. Also in the pack will be a Veggie Gang soft toy, 2 Veggie Gang 50 piece stationery sets, 30 badges, 4 posters, 30 plastic plant pots and 4 packs of seed (carrot, cress, radish, and mint which should be grown in the pots for the children to take home.)
